6 Christmas Movies to Include in Your Holiday Traditions

image
Watching Christmas movies is a holiday pastime that has definitely become a family tradition in my home. And now that December is here I’ve pulled out the ones I’m most excited to see. My list of favorites could be quite long, because there are quite a few, but I find myself watching these six over and over again each year.

The Holiday
A well written romantic comedy full of dynamic actors. It’s bound to make you laugh and cry with joy, as the characters find love in unexpected places. You also get to experience a sunny Christmas as part of the film takes place in Los Angeles, CA as well as a snowy, cold Christmas while the other part takes place in a picturesque English countryside setting. Makes me want to take a winter holiday to England!

White Christmas
A classic, not to be missed! In this romantic tale you get to travel to beautiful Vermont where there’s plenty of snow to put you in the Christmas mood. You’ll be thoroughly entertained watching this movie with all the spectacular vintage clothing and timeless singing and dancing from greats like Bing Crosby and Rosemary Clooney.

Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas
Starring the brilliant Jim Carrey who delivers an exceptional performance. This quirky story done in true Dr. Seuss fashion we all know and love is truly full of heart. I’m sure there are times where we’ve all gotten a little Grinchy during the hustle and bustle of the holidays. But don’t fret, just put on the Grinch and let little Cindy Lou remind you about the “true meaning of Christmas”. Besides who doesn’t want to take a trip to Whoville!

The Family Man
A hilarious comedy that in true holiday fashion embraces family and the magic of Christmas. It’s a story about second chances and getting a glimpse into how different your life may turn out because of the choices we make when we’re younger. Award winning actor, Nicolas Cage delivers one of his best performances, in my opinion.

National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
Quite simply… this movie is hysterical! If the exploding turkey or electrocuted cat doesn’t have you laughing I’m sure the witty banter amongst this star-studded cast will. Whenever I watch this movie it leaves me wondering if there isn’t a little “Griswold” in every family.

Santa Claus Is Coming to Town
I’ve saved the best for the last! This is a nostalgic film for me which makes me laugh because, as a child I was deathly afraid of the Abominable Snowman. But you can’t help loving it because it tells the classic tale of Santa delivering gifts down the chimney and how Santa met Mrs. Claus. Even the classic theme song is one of the most recognized Christmas tunes today. I love to save this one for Christmas Eve but it’s fun to watch more than once.

Isn’t it wonderful that for the low price of a movie we can experience a getaway from the comfort of our own home. Are there any from my list of six favorites that you haven’t seen? Leave a comment below and share with me which Christmas movie is your favorite. I hope you make the time to fix some hot drinks and popcorn, get in your holiday pj’s and getaway with one of your favorite Christmas movies.

Happy Holidays!

      Hi Kolette!
I hope you like Family Man, it makes us laugh! I do like Elf and haven’t watched it for a long time. I’ll watch it for sure when Ryan get’s here, he likes it too.

      GypsyNesters,
I agree, that is a fantastic film! I’ve actually seen it mixed in with all other Christmas films at the store.
I enjoyed your recent post about The Sacred Valley of the Incas, thanks for sharing.
      Happy Holidays!
