Eldorado Hotel and Kitchen in Sonoma, CA

Eldorado Hotel - Front

The sophisticated yet charming Eldorado Hotel couldn’t have been a more perfect place to stay on our recent visit to Sonoma.

With so many fantastic hotels to choose from in the Sonoma Valley it can be time-consuming to pick just the right one. For this particular getaway, there were three important deciding factors that we were looking for in making the final decision of where to rest our heads. Eldorado Hotel and Kitchen met all three of our needs and exceeded our expectations with their attention to details and laid back style.

  • Location – We knew we wanted to be close to town because that is where we would be most of the time.
  • Pool – The weather forecast was a weekend of pure sunshine, so time by a pool was a must.
  • Cost – With a couple other expensive activities planned, which were the focus of our weekend, we wanted to keep our hotel stay to under $400 per night to help balance our budget.

Perfectly located on the corner of First Street West and West Spain Street, you can walk to all the spectacular shops the plaza has to offer then back to the hotel for a glass of wine and lunch in their Corner Cafe and Wine Bar. If you prefer, you can enjoy your meal on their back terrace or grab a heated cabana for a siesta. The pool is small yet a perfect refresher after lounging on one of the comfortable day beds for two. Although the rooms are small you’ll find everything you need and each room has its own balcony either overlooking the courtyard or Sonoma Plaza.

Saving the best for last is Eldorado Hotel’s unbeatable price.

With rates ranging from $165 and $245 night it allowed room in our budget for some other activities like shopping, horseback riding and of course a little more wine!

TIP: Although we didn’t have a problem with it, I have heard that Sonoma Plaza can be very loud at night. Something to consider when choosing to stay in town on the square.

Hi Calli, those transoms were beautiful and let in so much light! Sometimes it’s fun to just spend one night in a little boutique hotel, especially when they are close to home.

We live close enough to Sonoma that we venture up there now and again. I’ll have to consider The Eldorado next time we go. One of my favorite restaurants is in the square…. “The Girl and the Fig”.

That’s fun, I’d love to live a bit closer but I’m not far. I also love the girls and the fig but am glad to have found Eldorado Kitchen as well. It’s actually right across the street. There breakfast was great.
