In just three short three weeks, I’ll be participating in my first ever 5K, The Dionysus Dash. I am so thrilled to be accomplishing one of the things I was determined to do in 2014 and even more excited my sister, Darla, will be flying in to join me.
Since this will be my first running event, I was on the look out for a race that would have some personality as well as support a good cause. I found exactly that with this Napa Valley Wine Country fun run. Named in honor of Dionysus, “The Greek God of Wine,” all runners are encouraged to dress up in true Greek fashion with Togas and headpieces as you make your way through the picturesque vineyards of Hess Winery. After vicariously crossing the finish line, each participant is rewarded with some delicious wine tasting for some celebratory cheers. To top it off this event is supporting a fundraiser for a great organization, the Big Brothers Big Sister of North Bay.

As I am entering the last few weeks of training, I’ve become even more focused on my preparation. I want to be as prepared as possible so when I’ve finished a little voice inside my head screams, “let’s do this again.”
*Changing my running route to make sure I am running enough hills.
*Changing what I eat before and after my run to see what gives me the most energy.
*Paying close attention that I remember to stretch both before and after my run. I tend to come home from my run and get caught up in other things and fail to stretch.
*Creating the perfect playlist.
I have to listen to music while running and want a playlist that motivates me, pushes me, and simply makes me happy. As of now I have 11 songs in my Spotify playlist, and I would like to double that amount. Today while running, I thought how cool it would be to have all of you choose which songs make the rest of my list. Not only will I have fun new music to help occupy my thoughts, I’ll also be thinking of you.
So whether you are a runner or not tell me, in the comments below which song makes you want to dance, run or sing at the top of your lungs.
What music on your playlist motivates you to get going?
